Split-adjustable ergonomic keyboard

Position the Keyboard Around Your Body, Not Your Body Around the Keyboard

The Kinesis Freestyle 2 separates the keyboard into independent left and right modules, giving you control over the width and angle of your typing position.

Keep the modules together, angle them using the flexible pivot tether, or separate them by up to approximately 9 inches / 22.9cm to better match your shoulder width and natural arm position.

A slim zero-degree slope, low-force keys and compact tenkeyless layout complete a keyboard designed to be adjusted around the individual user rather than forcing everyone into the same fixed position.

Narrow shoulders, broad shoulders or somewhere in between β€” set the keyboard width around you.

The Freestyle2 lets you independently control keyboard separation and splay so your hands can meet the keys without forcing the wrists to angle towards the centre of a conventional fixed keyboard.

A Keyboard That Adapts to Different Body Sizes

SPLIT

Adjustable Separation

Separate the left and right modules by up to approximately 9 inches to create a typing width that better suits your shoulders and upper body.

SPLAY

Independently Angle the Two Halves

The pivot tether allows a wide range of splay so the keyboard modules can follow the natural angle of your forearms rather than remaining perfectly straight.

0Β°

Low-Profile Zero-Degree Slope

The keyboard sits flat from front to back rather than rising towards the rear, helping keep the key surface low relative to the desk.

35G

Low-Force Keys

Kinesis specifies approximately 35g key activation force with tactile membrane switches designed for a light, familiar typing feel.

Why Split the Keyboard?

A conventional keyboard fixes both hands at one width and one angle, regardless of the size or shape of the person using it.

The Freestyle2 allows the left and right key modules to move apart, making it possible to position the hands more in line with the shoulders instead of drawing both forearms towards the centre of the desk.

You can then rotate the modules independently to fine-tune the angle at which your hands approach the keys.

Up to 9 Inches of Separation

The standard Freestyle2 configuration sold by NMPE uses a linking cable that allows the two modules to move apart by up to approximately 9 inches / 22.9cm.

When the modules are brought together, the keyboard is approximately 39cm wide. Spread them apart when you need a broader typing position.

Keep the Key Surface Low

Many conventional keyboards rise towards the rear, creating a positive keyboard slope.

The Freestyle2 instead uses a zero-degree front-to-back slope and measures only approximately 22mm high.

This slim design helps keep the keys closer to desk height without requiring you to prop the rear of the keyboard upwards.

Tenkeyless Layout Keeps the Mouse Closer

The Freestyle2 uses a compact tenkeyless-style layout rather than placing a full physical numeric keypad permanently on the right-hand side.

Reducing keyboard width can leave more room beside the keys for your mouse or other pointing device.

The PC wired model retains access to numeric-entry functions through an embedded keypad rather than requiring a dedicated full-width number pad.

Familiar Keys with a Lighter Touch

The Freestyle2 keeps a familiar keyboard layout, so moving to a split design does not require learning a radically different arrangement of letters and everyday keys.

Kinesis uses low-force membrane switches with approximately 35g activation force and 3.9mm travel, providing tactile feedback without requiring a heavy keystroke.

Choose Wired or Bluetooth

USB

Freestyle2 Wired

Connect directly through USB for a straightforward permanent workstation setup with no battery charging or wireless pairing required.

BLUE

Freestyle2 Blue

The Bluetooth version removes the computer connection cable while retaining the split-adjustable Freestyle2 design.

Add Tenting and Palm Support if You Want More Adjustment

The Freestyle2 can be used on its own or combined with optional Kinesis accessories to add another dimension of adjustment.

V3

Freestyle2 + V3

Adds 5Β°, 10Β° or 15Β° tenting without palm supports, raising the inner edges of both keyboard modules.

VIP3

Freestyle2 + VIP3

Adds the same 5Β°, 10Β° or 15Β° tenting together with integrated padded palm supports.

Set It Up Around Your Own Shoulder Width

Start with both keyboard modules positioned approximately in front of their respective shoulders.

Adjust the separation and angle until your forearms can approach the keyboard without needing to pull your hands strongly inwards towards the centre.

There is no single required separation distance. The value of the Freestyle2 is that the keyboard can be configured around different body sizes and workstation layouts.

Broad Computer Compatibility

Current Kinesis documentation supports the Freestyle2 platform across major operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, with additional compatibility depending on the selected wired or Bluetooth model.

i

Using the PC-layout version with a Mac? Basic keyboard functions are supported, but some Windows-specific hotkeys may not operate as expected. Kinesis also produces dedicated Mac versions in some markets.
